This article is designed to give you some ideas about getting out and about from the Melbourne CBD. You may be visiting on holidays or business and may be wanting to get out of the hussle and bussle of the city. Routes can easily be varied and can generally be achieved on foot, bicycle or Public Transport. If you don't have a bike, there are several bicycle hire stations throughout the CBD.
From Collins St in the CBD follow or take the 96 tram to South Melbourne Market, which operates on every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. South Melbourne Market is the oldest continuing market operating in Melbourne - the Crown Grant was made in 1867 when the Market started operating. It is still worth visiting even when closed as there are a few kiosks on the outside, including the famous South Melbourne Dim Sim shop and there a few delightful cafes across the road.
By Taking a short stroll along Coventry or York Streets you can get to Clarendon St, which is the main shopping and thorough fare for South Melbourne again some window shopping and a snack may be the way to go as you head south to Albert Park about 500m away.

Albert Park contains 225-hectares of beautiful parkland, which includes a picturesque lake and trails. It is the venue for many of Victoria's popular public events, including the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The park is a host to sporting and recreation enthusiasts with a superb 18 hole golf course, golf driving range, walking and cycling tracks and on-water activities. Other facilities include picnic tables, barbecue areas, playgrounds, restaurants and toilets. Albert park is also an important sanctuary for wildlife and vegetation.

You can now start to burn of the Calories by following the trail around the lake's edge if you have kids in tow a short diversion to a fantastic adventure playground located next to the Middle Park Light Rail stop and bowls clubs on the south western side of the park. Refreshments can be purchased from the cafe in the Light Rail station.

At the southern end of the park is the time for some decision making, your choices are to complete the circum navigation of the lake or head a little further to The Juction Oval and if lucky watch the cricket or some Aussie Rules depending on the time of the year.

Your choices from here are plentiful you can head on to St Kilda or grab a tram back to the CBD.

Manager's Guide to Go Karting Corporate Events in Melbourne

For employees, corporate events are simply a bit of fun ... the chance to socialise and talk with their workmates about something other than work, and perhaps have a beer before 5 o'clock! For those on the organising side of corporate events in Melbourne, they are a little trickier. Go karting corporate events in Melbourne are extremely popular, and today we help out managers and organisers everywhere with a handy guide to logistics, both beforehand and on the day.

Separate managerial planning  from logistics
Most corporate events planners advise having a measurable goal for your corporate events in Melbourne ... even if it's as simple as making sure that 95% of attendees have fun! However, it will simplify things greatly if this goal setting, managerial planning and evaluation functions are separated from logistics (though they should certainly consult each other).

Set up an employee consultation phaseRather like the public consultation phase that a local council initiates before doing major works, you should also share a planned agenda and guidelines like whether guests are allowed with your staff. Note any widespread concerns, and adjust the plans for your corporate event in Melbourne accordingly.

Review proposalsGo karting sounds like a simple day out for a corporate events Melbourne - but it is still advisable to check in with several venues and get written proposals. Look for a track that can tailor a karting day to your budget and needs, can brand the venue to match your company materials, and offer catering in-house to greatly simplify your day.

Customize your format
Think about the go kart racing format that will achieve the best results for your corporate event in Melbourne. For example:
  • Will you implement handicaps?
  • Do you have a way to ensure that everybody gets as much track time as each other?
  • Will you be handing out prizes? Consider handing out prizes for people in the middle of the scoreboard, or for those who came the closest to getting a particular lap time, to avoid singling anyone out for either positive or negative reasons.
A go karting track that is experienced with corporate events in Melbourne will have some great ideas for your organisation in this area - use their expertise!

Create a checklist
This is the best way to make sure that you remember to do everything that is necessary, in terms of logistics. You'll want to include items like:
  • Setting an agenda
  • Sending out invitations
  • Collecting RSVPs and determining final attending numbers
  • Arranging catering
  • Setting a drinks policy
  • Arranging transport if necessary
  • Arranging replacement staff or a staggered event to allow semi-normal operations, if necessary
  • Having any printed materials made
  • Reviewing and confirming the budget
  • Arranging prizes or awards

Think about delegating some responsibility
If you're running a fairly large corporate event in Melbourne it will probably be appropriate to delegate some responsibility to other staff members. For example, your company social club head can be in charge of RSVPs, your human resource manager in charge of communicating policies for the day, etc.

After-event tasks
After your corporate event in Melbourne, you'll need to:
  • Inventory all your company materials that came along
  • Write some notes on how the day went while it is fresh in your mind, to help plan for next time.
  • Do your financial reconciliation

And don't forget to discuss with the managerial planning team whether you feel the goal for your corporate event in Melbourne was achieved!

Different Types of Melbourne Accommodation

When you need accommodation in Melbourne there are plenty of different types available. You can get cheap accommodation in Melbourne by choosing a caravan park or motel with cheap rates. However, many people need Melbourne accommodation in the CBD and are willing to pay a little more for the convenience.

They may choose to rent serviced apartments in Melbourne due to the extra space and convenience of having accommodation that is more like home. While these may cost a little more, they are in many cases surprisingly affordable and you can save on the cost by eating in, since you get a kitchen with all the necessary equipment in a serviced apartment. This is also the ideal solution for people who have special dietary needs.

Plenty of budget accommodation in Melbourne can by found by doing a little research on the internet. Motels are ideal for travellers who are only staying the one night. They usually have very basic kitchen facilities such as a small refrigerator and a microwave, electric kettle and toaster for breakfast use. Some motels do have dining or cafe facilities attached or nearby.

<!-- p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; } -->

As a traveller, regardless of how much you spend, you want optimum value for your hard earned money. City Edge Apartment Hotels and Serviced Apartments in Melbourne offer an apartment accommodation experience at budget prices by removing those costly extras which often you do not use and should not have to pay for. Redefine your next Melbourne accommodation experience with City Edge! All City Edge serviced apartments are designed with your comfort and convenience in mind and afford a prestige address in close proximity to the best of the Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas. For those seeking location, value and amenity City Edge Apartment Hotels with fully serviced apartments are the perfect Melbourne accommodation solution.

Many hotel rooms are the same as motels rooms as far as kitchen facilities go, although some of them have nothing except a small refrigerator to keep your drinks cool. But with a hotel you can usually get room service and there is often a dining room that you can go to, to save finding somewhere else to eat. This is a boon if you are tired from travelling and just want to eat and rest. Other facilities such as a pool, gym, wake-up call and shoe cleaning are sometimes available in hotels.

So the type of accommodation you choose will often be dictated by the reason for your travelling, or the length of your stay. If you are in Melbourne for several days you will usually want somewhere comfortable and roomy such as a serviced apartment, while if you are just passing through you may be happy with more basic accommodation.

Melbourne Hotel - Surviving in the Central Business District

Much like anywhere else, Melbourne has a variety of things that makes it the way it is. Here are some ways you can adapt to Melbourne better during your trip there.

English is the language that is most commonly used in Melbourne, although many are able to converse in other languages such as Chinese, Greek, Lebanese, Vietnamese, and Turkish. Despite English being the common language, they carry a heavy but laid back slang that may appear difficult to follow if you are from a different country. So if you are planning to go to Melbourne, listening to audio tapes of their conversations may help your ear interpret the slang better. You should also be aware of their common expressions, such as "G'day mate" as a greeting, so that you will know how to properly respond to them.

If you are one who likes to shop, trading hours usually begins around 9am and closes at 5.30pm on weekdays, and 10am to 5pm on weekends and public holidays. There are barely any shops opened at night, except for places like bars, clubs, pubs, and certain restaurants. So if you are planning to do any last minute shopping, you will need to get them done during those hours or you will have to wait the next day. However, on Fridays, business hours are from 10am to 9pm, so many people can catch up on their shopping after work. The sky only becomes dark around 8pm, but the timing can be different depending on the season.

If you are unfamiliar with the currency in Australia, it is best to save up on your expenditures so you can have additional cash in hand for emergencies. You can begin by staying in reasonable priced Melbourne hotels or eating at cheap local diners instead of fine dining. There are many ways to find reasonable priced Melbourne hotels and even discounts for a variety of things, by visiting bargain websites. This way, even if you miscalculate the exchange of currencies, you will still have some cash left in your travel budget.

Find out how you can survive in Melbourne. Much like anywhere else, Melbourne has a variety of things that makes it the way it is. Here are some ways you can adapt to Melbourne better during your trip there.

fun in melbourne Fun venues in Melbourne?
What are some really fun venues in melbourne for a birthday party? I've looked at the Chillout Bar (made of Ice) and also renting a room in the Aquarium. Any other really fun places you can rent out?? Im not a drinker so I dont just want some club where everyone (but me) will get smashed. I didn't say nobody else is allowed to drink, I just said I don't want them all completly smashed and me the sober one having to look after them. Me not drinking is not by choice, or religion. And if you cant have fun without alcohol you lead a sad life. Luna Park is a great idea but i did that a couple years ago.
